UI Case Study

Hi, I'm Collen.

I'm a user experience designer and product builder with a passion for blending elegant design with robust research to deliver innovative digital products.

With a background in both front-end engineering and creative design descition-making, I have experience shaping user journeys for applications and startups. My dedication is to create experiences that are intuitive, accessible, and mentally engaging.

Currently, I am finishing my undergraduate degree at the University of Utah and working as a freelancer to establish a solid foundation in UX principles. As I continue to evolve throughout my career, I consistently spearhead projects that are innovative, thoughtful, and emotionally resonant.

Take a look at my portfolio below for a glimpse into my work process. This process highlights work driven by curiosity, craft, and an underlying passion for creativity and expression.

Good Design

To me, good design starts with understanding people.

It's about understanding mindset, motivations, and context, and behaviors. It's about not catering to how you as a designer think people will behave, but designing around how people actually behave and form form emotional connections on their own. From here, design becomes the craft of finding the strongest, most effective form to meet people's evolving needs.

Compassion is at the heart of my work. Whether it's a fully fleshed-out digital assembly, a speculative research project, or simply action sports content, I strive to reduce complexity and emphasise what matters most: clarity, utility, and meaning.

This being said, design doesn't happen in a vacuum. I recognize the reality of our business—budget, timeline, tech, and team—and I know how to lead great work within them.

When you work with me, you're getting a thoughtful, well-rounded partner who knows how to deliver design that works—creatively and practically.

“We must design for the way people behave, not for how we would wish them to behave.”

— Don Normon

“Design should not dominate things, should not dominate people. It should help people. That’s its role.”

— Dieter Rams
